In Andrew Niccols Gattaca set in “the-not-too-distant-future” people are determined by their genetic make-up. The society has become so accustomed to the system which determines your job and “expiry date” that they believe it is truly “flawless”. Irene a lady who like Vincent has a heart condition accepts her fate and believes that the readings given “only seonds after birth” are to be her set of limitations. Vincent is a man that was not supposed to succeed in this scientific world. The cold world of Gattaca did not have a place for “invalids”.
