Transcendentalism

The dictionary definition of Transcendentalism reads “a philosophy that asserts the primacy of the spiritual and transcendental over the material and empirical”. Transcendentalism means to look inside yourself and find the innate being. If you can let that innate being inside you guide you in your life, you have reached the ultimate level of success. That intuition inside of you will never lead you the wrong way. If a person can separate the influence of the outside world from what is their real intuition on the inside, he is balanced. Transcendentalists also believe that all people can talk directly with God and that man and nature live in harmony together.
Ralph Waldo Emerson is known as “the father of transcendentalism”. He is the first to come out and talk about the beliefs of transcendentalism. In his writing of “Nature” he states, “We must trust the perfection of the creation so far, as to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened...
