Tragedy


In the Shakespearian play, Julius Caesar, Shakespeare writes about a tragedy in the Roman era. Julius Caesar is a tragedy because it has the three components of a tragedy. The three components are a noble character, the falling of a noble character, and a catastrophic ending.
One of the three components in a tragedy is having a noble character. The noble character must be a main character and have some sort of special quality. In Julius Caesar, Brutus, the close friend of Caesar, is the noble character. He has the qualities of a noble character such as sincerity in this case. As Antony points out at the end of the play, he differs from the other conspirators in one crucial way: he acts solely for the good of Rome. Brutus matches all of these qualities; he is a main character in the play and has a special quality, which is sincerity.
