When most people hear the words “The Big Unit” an air conditioner is what comes to their minds, but if you live in Arizona, you know it means Randy Johnson. Now, at 225 pounds and 6’10”, Randy is one of baseballs most acclaimed players. Because of his outstanding skills, Randy has had a very satisfying and rewarding career.

Randall David Johnson was born on September 10, 1963 in Walnut Creek, California. After graduating from Liverton High School in 1982, Randy was drafted by the Atlanta Braves, but chose to attend college instead.

Randy went to the University of Southern California on a baseball/basketball scholarship. In his sophomore year at the University, Randy chose to play only baseball. Randy shared his college fame with a classmate, Mark McGwire. Both Randy and Mark went on to play in the Major Leagues.
