Toward Inclusive Theology; Women and God-talk

“Wherever women are violated, diminished, have their life drained away, God’s glory is dimmed and put at historical risk (Johnson; 15).”

While any one group of people is oppressed, it is impossible to understand God’s glory. With the exclusion of women from religious speech, we loose half of what religion is about. Our influence on the past and our opinions today are important aspects of religion that often go unnoticed to many. Johnson brings these problems to light and gives us ways in which to begin inclusive theology.
First, it is important to point out that the exclusion of women from religious speech has shaped cultures and the way women are treated. To say that god is a man, and he represents what humans should mold their life after, gives men an advantage right from the start.
