Too Young to Work

“ Please sir , buy some of these lottery tickets to help me and my family out,” begged the little

boy. There we were , my family and I standing on the cracked sidewalk ,that looked like a mini

Grand Canyon, with the scorching sun beating down on our heads . The air was wet and sticky

like melted candy .The heat made me feel like I was in an oven being roasted. There the boy

stood, fanning out the lottery tickets like a deck of playing cards begging us to buy some . He had

very tan skin that looked as if layers of dirt was sticking to it . He wore green sandals that were

ripped and worn down and seemed to be made of plastic. He was also wearing shirts and shorts

that were infested with patches of different colored fabrics that were probably put there to conceal

the many holes underneath it.

“ Take this money and go away ,” said my father to the boy.
