Toni Cade Bambara's "The Lesson":The Gift of Teaching

Teaching is the most essential contributor to the future and teachers prepare children for that future. As children we go to school, do our homework, and play with friends. The adults are the ones with all the responsibilities. Eventually, however, we grow up and are expected to take on all those responsibilities ourselves. During pre-teen and teenage years is a great time for children to begin learning about adulthood and what it entails. A good teacher knows how to come down to the children’s level of understanding in order to teach them an important lesson. It is important to demonstrate lessons in a way so that children can fully comprehend it. Not anyone can do this. It takes a gifted educator to teach.
