Tommorow when the war began-additional chapter

Chapter 23

After that day, I didn’t have enough time to worry about Fi and Homer, for at least the next 2 weeks. We should have been prepared for this, after all, it probably was inevitable. That night, as we were all sleeping, the enemy were planning, planning an air raid further inland. So, while we were all snoring, a fleet of 10 F1 fighters flew overhead, making so much noise the next morning every told of how the had heard it through their dreams. This probably should have alerted us, but seeing as we were living in a bubble of naivety, nobody thought anything of it. But it didn’t matter; we soon found a rough recount of the events that night. How do we know? Well, one of the jets flew a little too low for the Australian bush’s liking.
How we slept through the explosion, nobody knows. I guess we were all just too tired from that day’s work to notice anything. The next morning, we all noticed the smoke, though at first, we thought it was just early morning fog. Stupid ...
