tom sawyer

Tom Sawyer is a young mischevious boy who lives for adventure. His curiosity and impish ways take him from one wild crusade to another. By examining both the book and the movie (Tom and Huck) we follow Tom through his trials and tribulations. Throughout the story Tom is continually dealing with issues surrounding friendships, personal struggles with his conscience, and manipulation; As a result of these we will address the therapeutic value of both the book and movie, and the type of child who may benefit from the story of Tom Sawyer.
Mark Twain states that “The holy passion of friendship is of so sweet and steady and loyal and enduring a nature that it will last through a whole lifetime (The Quotable Mark Twain).” In both the book and the movie the value of friendship is paramount to Tom. Tom demonstrates the importance of friendship throughout the book in various ways. His dedication to Huck, Joe Harper, Ben Rogers, Becky, as well as his concern for Muff Potter show ...
