mice and men is a compelling novel written by one of America’s greatest novel writers, John Steinbeck. It tells the tale of two typical ranch workers, tyring to work them selves through the depression. Although these two; George and Lennie, have something different to all the other ranchers: friendship. Whilst everyone on the ranch has the same ambitions and dreams, none of them realise that to conquer their dreams they must have a partner to get them through the harsh realties of life. You need someone to keep you level headed and to pick you up when you are down. The novel of mice and men explores themes such as friendship, loneliness, striving to succeed against the odds and the mateship that is made on the farm.
