To the Virgins, Make Much of time

The subject of Robert Herrick’s “To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time” has to do with love and not to delay it because time is short, but the overall theme of this poem has more to do with seizing the day rather than love. The poem suggests that virgins, in their young years, should marry as soon as they fall in love because if they don’t they will forever tarry like a wilted rose or a setting sun.
