If the decision that has to be made was to be made based on the son’s feelings about the situation, then there would be no solution. Either way the boy is going to be greatly disturbed by what is about to happen to him. In the one situation he will be upset that it is his father who is pulling the chair and may feel recent towards his father and in the other situation the son will be emotionally upset about the fact that another innocent life will be taken with him and may feel guilty for that reason.
