To Kill A Moxkingbird: Atticus as a good Father Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize winning novel “To Kill A Mockingbrid” is based on the recount through the eyes of a childhood of a motherless family in the American South. With their father playing the part of both being a good father for his children to look up to and trying as hard as he can to battle the rights of a Negro accused of rape. Lee has structed the novel where they see you main character, Atticus, as a good lawyer and father. Atticus is a proud, dignified man. It isn't just that everyone respects him, he respects himself. As a lawyer he has to defend Tom Robinson, a negro who has been accused of raping a white women, because his he doesnt ”I couldn't hold me head up in town, I couldn't respect my county in legislature, I couldn't even tell you or Jem not to do something again.”(pg 83).
