TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, a young girl (Scout Finch) lives a life full of many experiences including prejudice, appearance verses reality and courage. Scout Finch’s life takes many turns for the better and for the worst, but by the end of the book she learns allot of life lessons. Most importantly not to judge people before you really know them. She learns this through experiences with Tom Robinson, a colored man; and Boo Radley.


Scout learns not to be prejudice from Tom Robinson who has been unfairly charged of raping a white woman through her father Atticus, Toms Lawyer. Examples of some of the prejudice in the book are when Cecil Jacobs yells, “ you have to make me first! My folks said your daddy is a disgrace an’ that nigger oughta hang from the water tank. (76)” This is against Atticus and Tom but it hurts Scout she finds it to be very offending. At first she doesn’t understand but Atticus explains it to her. L...
