To Kill A Mockingbird

The novel, “To Kill A Mockingbird”, written by Harper Lee, is narrated by a young girl named Scout, who is looking back on her life as a child. The novel is set in a small town called Maycomb in Alabama. The book is split into two parts, part one and part two. Part one introduces the setting, sets a basis for what is to come, and introduces the reader to the main characters. Part two is focussed around the big court case with Atticus defending Tom Robinson. The story of the novel takes place between the summer of 1932, and finishes during Halloween of 1935. The story starts of with Scout at age six, and ends with her at nine. She starts off as an immature young girl, who enjoys fighting, and act like a boy more than a girl. She wears boys clothing, plays boys games, and often gets into fights. She has a brother named Jem who is four years older than Scout.
