To Kill A Mocking Bird:Prejudice

One of the themes in To Kill A Mockingbird is Prejudice. The definition of prejudice is an adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts. In the story, Tom Robinson was convicted of raping and beating Mayelle Ewell. After Tom testifies that he didn’t do it, the jury takes Mayelle’s word over Tom’s and convicts him because they will believe a white person’s word over a black person’s word.
