Discuss the above statement with close reference to “To Kill A Mocking Bird”

Published in 1960, this book deals with the attitude to race and class in America’s “Deep South” in the 1930’s. Atticus Finch, A defence Lawyer challenges the conscience of the town in a quest for justice. As the protagonist, does Atticus qualify as a hero? There is evidence to suggest that Atticus is a hero in this story yet there is also evidence to show that he is not. First of all though, it is important to define what a hero is.

A hero can be seen in many different ways and in many different contexts. The definition of a hero therefore, does need to be broad.
