Appendix: Sources I. Introduction Voice over IP (VoIP) is the delivery of voice data using the Internet Protocol (IP). It differs from traditional telephone circuit switching technology in that it delivers voice data as discrete digital packets. The primary advantage to using this technology is that VoIP avoids the toll charges associated with circuit switching by transmitting data via IP. VoIP will have minimal impact on users because can communicate using VoIP as simply as with the public switched telephone network (PSTN).
