Title VII

The need for civil right laws and discrimination guidelines was addressed by the courts because the United States has multiple minority groups which include Blacks, Jews, Asian Americans, European immigrants, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, homosexuals, and people with disabilities. Historically it has been visualized and vocalized, by the actions of people in the majority group, that members of the minority groups mentioned should not have an equal chance for economic, political, or social advancement. Members of these minorities have been, denied the right to vote, discriminated against in housing, education, and employment, denied equal access to restaurants, hotels, and other public accommodations and facilities.
