Title 9

Amid the cheers and roars of the crowd, another season of sports is on its way. The anticipation has fans waiting to see their favorite teams, but entering the twenty first Century many of these sports teams have become obsolete. Through title 9, sports such as football, wrestling, tennis, soccer, and swimming have been told they will no longer be in existence. These teams are to hang up their equipment, get off the playing fields and ultimately leave their sport entirely. These sports all have one thing in common it is only the men that are getting cut from them.
Before 1972 sports were designed and ran for the men and boys only. Women had little to no support from the government and little funds to run and organize their sports. The government supplied colleges with the funding for sports, but the colleges would put most of there finances in men’s sports.
