Titanic and Eastenders

This essay asks for me to choose from a list of texts. Analysing narrative structure, sign sytems and ideology. I have looked at an episode of Eastenders and the film Titanic, i have combined all of these things. Looking at multiple story lines in soap and how they make the plot more complex and real, and why audiences want this; arbitrary signs in soap and film, other variations will be added in more detail in this section;equlibrium and disequilibrium (the resolution of it) - how it's created and what it does; Roles in narrative, hero, helper etc. Binary oppositions and do these roles surpass our expectations? Another section dedicated more to expectations ideologically, however this may become more intertwined with the section just mentioned on narrative roles; carrying on from this i will be looking more at the role of female villians and how the womans role has progressed, mostly looking at soaps here.
