¡®The Great Gatsby¡¯ is the novel which is written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The story of the American dream examines the roles of people and the primary American culture.
Nick Carraway is the narrator and it is through his eyes that we see the other characters and the world they live in. He knows all the characters well enough to be present at the crucial scenes in the novel. Carraway appears to be the one character in the novel to exhibit, and hold onto, a sense of morals and decency. Through the novel, we witness the corruption of the American dream by the desire for material wealth.
The story talks about the things in 1920s. It is called the roaring twenties. It seems like that people had discovered new wealth at that time. They always set about living the high life with their new found. The story contains innumerable references to the contemporary scene.
