think it depends on his motivation to stay home

think it depends on his motivation to stay home. Is he
really thinking of the baby's welfare or is he thinking that
staying home will be easier? If he thinks it's easier and a
good way to avoid "real work", prepare for him to
run screaming back to a job, any job, within a few weeks of
baby care! If you both decide that the baby would be better
off with him at home, then it's OK. But you both have to
make the decision, or else resentment will grow. Maybe you
can do it as a trial period? Maybe he can take a leave after
you go back to work from maternity leave, and see if it
works? Also you need to examine whether you're disagreeing
because you want to be the one to stay home--as the mom, you...
