Brutus and Caesar are portrayed in different ways throughout the Tragedy of Julius Caesar. It is through these representations of the characters flaws and triumphs that we learn to love and hate certain characters, and understand their complexity.

Marcus Brutus is actually the tragic hero in Julius Caesar as opposed to Caesar, who plays a greater role in death, than he does in life. Brutus has many qualities that are considered great, however sometimes these good qualities can have a negative impact. Brutus is idealistic and patriotic and his involvement in the conspiracy was for the Good of Rome, rather than for the good of himself, this Antony himself acknowledges after Brutus...
