Therapy is the interaction between patient and therapist to come to a solution to a problem that has been identified by both parties through some selected method by theory. Many theories have been established to identify some type of therapy that could be utilized to assist the client in identifying the problem. Through therapy a therapist and client can come to a solution to the problem and assist in becoming part of a normal society.
Psychodynamic therapy (or Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy as it is sometimes called), which is based on the thinking of Sigmund Freud, is a general name for therapeutic approaches which try to get the patient to bring to the surface their true feelings, so that they can experience them and understand them. Psychotherapy uses the basic assumption that everyone has an unconscious mind and that feelings held in the unconscious mind are often too painful to be faced.
