Theme of past in “Babylon Revisited” In “Babylon revisited” author F.Scott Fitzgerald touched many different themes and aspects of human life. Themes such love, revenge, money are bound closely through the whole story. But I think the theme of past or the way our past affects our present is most important and dominant theme of the book. In the beginning of the story main character, Charlie, talks to barmen Alix while sitting in the Ritz bar. He asked him about his old friends who he spend time with drinking years ago. And he finds out that almost all of them, for different reasons, not here anymore. And that become obvious that past is here and it will be here all the time. In conversation with barmen Charlie mention his daughter and surprised Alix. For people like Charlie and his friends barmen was a person who they speak almost every day and he know everything about his clients.
