The Wild-Goose Chase: My Description and Opinions on Annie Dillard's "The Chase"
Dillard’s essay tells the story of an event in her childhood during winter when she was seven. Before describing this she gives us a brief history of herself as a child. She used to play both football and baseball with the boys during the summer. These boys were slightly older than Dillard and she seems to have prided herself on being as rough and tough as any of them. When it was too cold for football and baseball and there was enough snow on the ground, she would play snowball fights with the boys instead.
