The White Rhinoceros

There are five surviving species of rhinoceros in the world. The White Rhinoceros is the largest. Rhino's are territorial animals and mark their territories by spraying urine and leaving dung piles called middens throughout the area.

SIZE: Height, 5 to 7 feet at hump; weight, 3 to 5 tons.
RANGE: Kenya, South Africa, southern Sudan, Uganda, parts of the Congo.
HABITAT: Grassland and open savannas with scrub and trees for shade.

DIET: Herbivore; mainly grazers; feeding on grass and low shrubs. White rhinos possess squared lips that allow them to feed on short grasses.
