God: The Watchmaker


When somebody finds a watch on the ground the person knows that somebody had to have designed the watch because of all the intricate detail that makes it all work. The person knows it had to have been made by a designer and not by chance. Paley's argument for the existence of God by arguing that anything that appears to have a design and complex necessitates that there has to be a designer. Since the universe seems to have been designed and must therefore have a designer. Then the designer of the universe is God. The argument seems to have merit, but a closer inspection of his argument many flaws are apparent. If you think about the axiom that everything that has a design has a designer, then the universe has a designer we cannot accept this because this is what Paley is trying to prove.
