The Vile Village

The novel, THE VILE VILLAGE, by Lemony Snicket, is about three orphans trying to escape the evil clutches of a horrid man named Count Olaf. Watching crows migrate three times a day sounds interesting but to the Baudelaire orphans it is about the best part of this book. The rest of this book has only a miraculous escape from a brick cell using water, a bench and a loaf of spongy bread, and many pointless rules not even a genius could count. This book takes place in a made up village somewhere in the world in the nineteen hundreds.


There are many characters in this book but the most important are Count Olaf, Hector, Violet, Clause, and Sunny. Violet is the eldest Baudelaire orphan. She is tall, has shoulder-length black hair. She often wears a long violet cloak and violet stockings. She wears a ribbon in her hair when she thinks hard about inventing.
