The Va. Consumers Counsil v.the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy

Facts: The Va. Consumers Counsil brought suit against
the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy challenging the
validity under the First and Fourteenth Amendments of
a Virginia statute saying that it was unprofessional
conduct for a licensed pharmacist to advertise the
prices of prescription drugs. The statute said that a
Va. pharmisist is guilty of unprofessional conduct if
"he publishes, advertises or promotes, directly or
indirectly, in any manner whatsoever, any amount,
price, fee, premium, discount, rebate or credit terms
