The Thread that binds the bones

The Thread That Binds The Bones is written by Nina Kiriki Hoffman in third person. The
protagonist is Tom Renfield, his goal is to reorganize the Hollow and its people. The conflict is
fighting and trying to overpower the hollow people with his special powers. His main rivalry or
the antagonist is Carroll Bolte a member of the Hollow. The setting is early 1990's. It takes place
near and in a little town, called Arcadia.
There were two major plot complications. One was when Tom had a battle with Carroll
dealing with possession of a fetch(slave). After this encounter Tom grew smarter and wiser to
Carroll’s tricks. The other was when Fayella Bolte started to cast the “Great Unbinding.” Tom
suffered a great deal, physically and mentally and almost died from fighting Fayella.
Personification was used every time Tom used his power of “Othersight.” An example was when
