THE SWORD.

History:
Swords have played a major role in history, this is due to there common use as a weapon of war. However the uses of a sword have not being lost through the ages, some examples of their modern uses are; Knighting, a royal may dub a person using the flats of a sword also swords are used in most important military ceremonies of importance.

The earliest swords recorded were made of copper. The major flaw of using copper was it was soft, meaning that it would not keep its edge (it would become blunt). Years after an alloy known as bronze was formed, bronze is a combination of copper and tin This newly invented alloy formed a sword which was: Stronger, More flexible and a larger edge life. The next sword to be invented years after was made from iron. In the early ages iron ore was easily found. Iron ore is a compound of iron and oxygen.
