The support structures that London requires are varied due to London having been developed over time many of the systems in place have been designed and built in the Victorian times when there was suddenly a large influx of people from the surrounding areas due to the industrial revolution.
But this is not the beginning of London from when people first settled there. It has had an importance to the British people for a long time many statutes monuments museums and tourist attractions have developed. Thus London is not only a large city it is also
1. Business centre offering good prospects for many lines of jobs
2. Culture centre due to attracting many different races, regions and cultures from all over the world
3. Tourist attraction

All of these means that there is a large population (7172091 people) requiring many different resources. But also a large influx of people commuting and tourism so to survive London needs : -
