A decade after the economic boom of the 1990’s, the United States economy faced its largest recession. The attacks of September 11, along with the war on terrorism, were the reason of the economic depression. According to many analysts, the recession is now ending and the economy is at the start of expansion. Many also believe that the interest rate cuts by the Federal Government and an increase in government spending will result in growth throughout the year of 2002. Furthermore, with inflation low, productivity strong, and interest rates at low levels, growth should almost double in years to come.
Although growth exists, John Beggs suggests that the growth may be stall because of the decrease in consumer spending, weaker conditions in global markets, and the fear of fighting the war on terrorism.
