The Kumaratunga Government was elected with mandate to end the cruel and destructive war which has been on going for over one decade and establish a viable peace in the country. Since then a number of efforts ranging from political dialogue and social/economic reforms to military conquest of Jaffna peninsula have been launched. However the peace does not seem to be in sight yet.
Discuss domestic environment of Sri Lanka high lighting the reasons for failure of efforts to bring peace and achieve national integration.
