Somalia was engaged in a civil war and United States soldiers were called upon to do their part in helping the peace. Black Hawk Down is the story of those soldiers’ efforts, sufferings, and losses during that war. In the scene selected, United States soldiers are engaging in a raid of what was thought to be a key building in their operation. Every category of sound: speech, music and sound effects, is brought together to form unity between the three locations essential to their operation. Through a combination of diegetic and nondiegetic sounds, sound perspectives and sound bridges, a full effect of war is created.
