“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”

In "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" by James Thurber, a story evolves which shows great imagination and characterization through Walter Mitty, a rather intriguing character throughout this short story. In this short story, the main character, Walter, drives into town to get some errands done for his irritating wife. Mr. Mitty appeared as a tremendous coward, who deflects his displeasing life by constantly daydreaming, fearing his wife, and being held down by society. As one can see, he was an important character to this short story, who had many peculiar characteristics.
During many courses in this escapade, Walter daydreamed because of his low self-esteem. In the very beginning of the story, Walter dreams about him and other people in a navy hydroplane getting ready for battle. “Full strength in number 3 turret! The old man’ll get us through.
