The Sacraments in the Lion King

The Lion King displays the full array of all of the seven sacraments including
Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Marriage.
The presentation of Simba displays the sacrament of Baptism. Many biblical allusions are made, such as the heavens opening up and having birds flying over which can be paralleled to the Baptism of Christ. Also Rafiki breaking the gourd over Simba’s head and sprinkling it with sand and water is much like the traditional Christian Baptisms, which we perform today. Also you could even consider Zazu the godfather because he was at the presentation, is a close personal friend of the family, and constantly is protecting and watching over Simba.
The sacrament of Confirmation is found when Mufasa explains to Simba on the rock the dominion of the lions and how life goes full circle. He does this to Simba at an early age much like the Confirmation is done to children at a young age. This speech by Mufasa ...
