The Result of a Fatherless Society

Did you or someone you know come from a family were the mother was forced to raise her children by herself because the father made the decision to leave the family? If you answered yes to this question you are not alone. Fatherless families are very common nowadays and are becoming more and more common as society continues to evolve toward a fatherless society. In David Blankenhorn’s “Fatherless America” the decision of the farther to leave the household causes a dysfunctional family, the mother to give up her dreams, and the children not to have a biological role model.


“Fatherless America” illustrates how the absence of the father causes a dysfunctional family. The number of these dysfunctional families is astonishing. “Tonight, about 40 percent of American Children will go to sleep in homes in which their fathers do not live.” (Blankenhorn, 598).
