the resistance of wire

My Main experiment

Aim: In this experiment I will be investigating how the length of wire affects the resistance of wire.

Prediction: I predict that the longer the length of the wire the more resistance will be present, because the longer the conducting electrons have to travel the more metal atoms the conducting electrons will collide with creating more thermal energy and therefor more resistance.

Equipment
1. Over 100cm of median wire
2. 1 metre ruler
3. Masking tape
4. Digital multimetre

Method
1. Place the wire along the length of the 1 metre ruler.
2. Tape the wire to the back of the 1 metre ruler at each end.
3. Take each rod of the digital multimetre and place one on the 0cm mark and one on the 10cm mark.
4. Record the resistance displayed on the multimetre screen on your result table.
5. Repeat two more times and record the results on the result table.
6. Repeat 3,4 and 5 for 20cm, 30cm, 40cm, 50cm, 60cm, 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 100cm. Record all of the resu...
