The Red Scare.

The Red Scare was the time between WWI and WWII where the media fueled a fire against communism leading up to Americans’ fear and The Palmer Raids. In every story, our government is the hero and communism is the sought out monster. The newspapers, portrayed communism out as the monster. They created a story that would sell and threaten Americans that life as they know it could end. Papers conveyed that communism was abusive to people, ignored human rights, and broke down family and Christian morals.
The climate of repression established during WWI continued after the war ended. This time, government interest focused on communists, Bolsheviks and "reds" generally. The climactic phase of this anti communist crusade occurred during the "Palmer Raids" of 1918-1921. A. Mitchell Palmer, Wilson's Attorney General, believed communism was "eating its way into the homes of the American workman."
