The Power of the Voice
An actor's most important tool is the voice. With proper technique and training the voice can be manipulated to portray many different feelings. Superior voice projection and articulation make up the foundation of a good actor. Opening the mouth and producing sound may be what some people consider to be all that is involved in stage speaking. In reality there is important training involving a few steps that drastically improve the quality of the voice. Following these steps helps the actor to achieve great voice projection and eventually turn that projection into a resonating work of art.
I like to think of the voice process as working from the outside in. The body must first be warmed up or stretched for about ten minutes.
