Many different planets belong to our solar system but at the moment only one planet is known to be able to sustain life. This planet is Earth, the planet we live on now. Many different things contribute to the possibility and impossibility of life on a planet.
Our planet, Earth, has a large atmosphere making life on the planet possible. The atmosphere protects the Earth from small meteors, and ultraviolet rays, and also holds important elements essential to life. One element is oxygen. Without oxygen, there would be no other gas available that wouldn¡¦t be harmful to breathe. The atmosphere also contains many types of weather including precipitation, a part of the water cycle, another element needed for life. Without water marine animals would not survive and there would be no way for an animal to live without having moisture in its bloodstream. Also, Earth is the only planet without extreme temperatures that would be to serious for an animal or plant to live.
