This book demonstrates an out of proportion event occuring when electors vote for someone other than their pledged candidate, causing a constitutional catastrophe. I think having the electoral college is a good idea but needs to be more regulated. I found some discrepencies in the book pertaining to certain facts such as the date of the electoral college vote as well as other events that were most likely exaggerated to portray a more chaotic scene. One of the less-known characters proposes a need to fix the system. With this I think that Greenfield is acknowledging that reform of the electoral college will most likely not occur. An analogy used is when one of the characters describes a scene in which Charlie Chaplan(in one of his movies) keeps coming closer to the edge of a cliff on skates...
