In 1836, Charles Wheatstone and William Cooke went into partnership and developed a viable telegraphic system. They ran a telegraph line along the railway track from Euston to Camden Town and successfully transmitted and received a message. This revolutionized the way people could communicate. Between the years of 1858 and 1866 direct communication across the Atlantic Ocean was achieved.
