The necessity of saving endangered species through human efforts.

Human activities have constituted to the extinction of plant and animal species although extinction of species do result from natural processes. There are ample reasons-medicinal, ecological and recreational- why the society should endeavor to save endangered species.

First of all, human activities have undoubtedly led to the extinction of species in the natural world. For instance, decades of unsustainable forest management practices in the Pacific Northwest region of the US have been found instrumental in affecting the survival of northern spotted owls, which was listed as threatened in 1990. Scientists assert that the endangered owl served as a strong indicator of the declining health of the ancient forests in the region.
