The Indians of North America had a major affect on the colonization of the British and Spanish Empires in their “new-found” world. The British were a little more tame when it came to how they treated the Indians compared to the cruel Spanish conquistadores. The British saw the Native Americans as useful in the way of trade and learning new things about farming and harvesting, but within time things changed and the British got more stingy leading them to wanting to conquer the Indians. The Spanish never really saw the Indians as people to associate with, they thought of them as savages and, therefore, beneath them. They should be the slaves of the Spanish people and lead them to gold. Many Native American groups tried to retaliate but with the epidemics that the Europeans spread to them, killing many of their people, the Europeans advanced technology.
