It reminds them of a grotesque act carried out by a person, which changed the face of feminism in Canada forever. On that day in 1989 fourteen female engineering students were murdered in the halls of Montréal’s École Polytechnique. Twenty-five year old Marc Lepine separated the men form the women and opened fire upon the women while yelling “you’re all a bunch of feminists”. Some believe the Montréal Massacre was “a grievous blow to relations between men and women” (Canadian Press).
