In the story “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka, Gregor Samsa is transformed into a bug. The family lived off the labors of Gregor for 5 years because his father, Mr. Samsa, had failed in a business venture and Gregor had stepped up to pay off the business losses and sustain the family financially.
